Somewhere out there, an offshore operation has decided that "Blackridge Finance" is a name worth borrowing. We'll admit it's a little flattering that an international scam outfit picked us as their disguise of choice — but we're very serious about what comes next, because real people are being targeted and we don't want a single Australian to lose a cent to it.

What's happening

  • A fraudulent website and associated social media ads are using Blackridge Finance's company name, ABN, and Australian Credit Licence details — including individual credit representative numbers — to appear legitimate.
  • These ads and pages promote "investment" opportunities in cryptocurrency, precious metals trading and similar high-return schemes.
  • Some ads falsely claim that prominent Australians — including Gina Rinehart, Anthony Albanese, Andrew Forrest and James Packer — have invested through "Blackridge Finance." These claims are completely false and have nothing to do with our business or these individuals. (If any of them would like to invest with us, they're welcome to join the queue with everyone else and get a very normal home loan.)
  • We've had numerous phone calls from people who were contacted, or found these ads, and wanted to check with us before sending any money. We're glad they called.

Here's the important part

Blackridge Finance is a mortgage and finance broking business. We arrange home loans, investment property loans, commercial finance and similar lending — we are credit representatives, not investment managers. We will never ask you to send money to us, or to anyone claiming to represent us, in order to "invest" it — not into property, not into crypto, not into gold, not into anything. If someone has asked you to do that while using our name, licence number or a team member's name, it is not us.

If you've been contacted

  • Do not send money, and do not hand over identification or banking details.
  • If you've already sent money, contact your bank or financial institution immediately — they may be able to stop or trace the transfer.
  • Report it (see below) — every report helps get these ads and sites taken down.

Report the scam

  • Scamwatch / National Anti-Scam Centre — scamwatch.gov.au
  • ReportCyber (Australian Cyber Security Centre) — cyber.gov.au/report — for fraudulent websites and online scams
  • ASIC — asic.gov.au — for misuse of an Australian Credit Licence or credit representative number; moneysmart.gov.au has general guidance on investment scams
  • IDCARE — idcare.org (1800 595 160) — if your personal information has been compromised
  • If you were targeted via Facebook, Instagram or another platform, please also report the ad or page directly to that platform.
